Good to know

Massage therapy questions, answered

Is massage therapy covered by insurance?
Massage therapy is one of the most widely covered services in Ontario extended health plans. Treatment must be provided by a Registered Massage Therapist, which it always is here. Check your plan and we will provide a receipt.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly online. Some insurers ask for a referral before they reimburse, so it is worth checking your plan.
Is massage safe during pregnancy?
Yes, with a therapist trained in prenatal care. Jessica has completed extensive continuing education in prenatal and postnatal massage, and will position and adapt the treatment to suit you.
What does a trauma-informed approach mean?
It means consent, pace and comfort lead the session. You stay in control of what happens, you can change your mind at any point, and nothing proceeds without you being clear about it.
What do I need to take off?
Only what you are comfortable with. You are draped throughout and only the area being worked on is uncovered. Tell us what you prefer and we will work with it.
Can massage help TMJ or jaw pain?
Often, where muscular tension is part of the picture. Jessica has completed advanced training in TMJ dysfunction. We will assess first and be honest with you about what to expect.
